1. acceptance of terms

Matraca is a bilingual keyboard app for iOS, operated by Matraca, based in São Paulo (Brazil) and Lisbon (Portugal). By downloading, installing, accessing or using the app, you enter into an agreement with us and accept these terms in full.

If you use Matraca on behalf of a company or another person, you represent that you have authority to accept these terms on their behalf.

2. eligibility

You must be old enough to consent to digital services in your country, or have authorization from your legal guardian when the law requires it. Matraca is not directed specifically to children.

If we find that an account was created without legally required authorization, we may limit, suspend, or terminate that account.

3. what Matraca does

Matraca is an iOS keyboard for language practice. You can practice English, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Italian, and French with corrections, lessons, and audio created from what you write or say.

The app also keeps a streak (consecutive days of use) and social elements of presence and friendly pressure. Matraca pushes you to speak — it's not a course, not an exercise queue, not a grammar class.

We may adjust, add or remove features at any time. We'll let you know about significant changes when it makes sense.

4. account and responsibilities

To use most of Matraca you create an account. You're responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for everything that happens under your account.

You agree to provide accurate information when signing up and to keep it current. Let us know at contato@matraca.ai if you suspect unauthorized access.

5. acceptable use

Matraca is a place to practice, not to abuse. By using the app, you agree not to:

• use the service for harassment, threats, hate speech or any illegal activity;
• attempt to bypass, cheat or manipulate the streak or the social mechanics;
• reverse engineer, copy, decompile or exploit the app beyond what the law allows;
• overload, attack or interfere with the service infrastructure;
• use bots, scrapers or unauthorized automation;
• infringe the rights of third parties or any applicable law.

If you break these rules, we may limit, suspend or terminate your access.

6. subscription and billing

Installing Matraca is free. Some features require a paid subscription, which may include a free trial period. The terms, prices and trial length appear at the time of purchase, inside the app or on the payment page.

Billing is processed by Stripe and/or Apple's App Store, depending on the method you choose. By subscribing, you authorize recurring charges through the corresponding payment provider.

• Auto-renewal: your subscription renews automatically at the end of each cycle, at the then-current price, until you cancel.
• Cancellation: you can cancel at any time. App Store subscriptions are managed in your Apple account settings; Stripe subscriptions are managed in the app or via the management link we send you.
• Effect of cancellation: when you cancel, you keep access until the end of the period already paid for, and you won't be charged again.
• Refunds: purchases made through the App Store follow Apple's refund rules, and requests must be made directly to Apple. For Stripe charges, contact us at contato@matraca.ai — we review case by case, honoring any statutory withdrawal rights where applicable.
• Trial: if you don't cancel before the free trial ends, the paid subscription begins automatically.

Prices may change. When that affects your active subscription, we'll give you reasonable advance notice, and the change only applies from the next cycle onward.

7. your content

Your messages are yours. Matraca claims no ownership over the content you write or send.

For the app to work — to translate, display, sync and improve the service — you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, revocable license to process your content only as far as necessary to operate Matraca. Details on how we handle data are in our privacy policy.

8. intellectual property

The Matraca name, brand, logo, design, copy and software are ours (or licensed to us) and protected by law. These terms do not transfer any of those rights to you.

You receive only a personal, limited, non-transferable and revocable license to use the app under these terms.

9. disclaimers

Matraca is provided “as is”. We do our best, but we don't guarantee the service will be uninterrupted, error-free or perfectly accurate.

Translations are meant for everyday conversation and language practice. They are not professional, legal, medical or official translation — don't rely on them for critical decisions.

10. limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Matraca is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising from your use (or inability to use) the app.

Nothing in these terms limits liabilities that the law does not allow us to limit — including consumer rights granted by applicable legislation.

11. termination and suspension

You can stop using Matraca and close your account whenever you want. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms, if there's a security risk, or if the law requires it.

Upon termination, clauses that by their nature should survive — intellectual property, disclaimers and limitation of liability — continue to apply.

12. governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Brazil. For users in the European Union, mandatory consumer protections under the laws of Portugal and the EU also apply, as the case may be.

Before any legal action, we'll try to sort things out directly: write to contato@matraca.ai and let's talk. Disputes that can't be resolved that way will be submitted to the competent courts, respecting your right, as a consumer, to bring the matter before the courts of your domicile where the law so permits.

13. changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When a change is significant, we'll notify you in the app or by email. Continuing to use Matraca after an update means you accept the new version.
